Ford Transit 2000cc Di diesel which has come to our garage to day, with the starter burnt out, because very very bad starting fault.Customer starting van by bump starting it.Firstly he has had new glow plugs fitted, replaced timing solenoid on back of injection pump because of leaking fuel all done elseware.Weve now fitted new starter motor,so van turns over now but still wont start unless bump started or extra boost + lots of turning over??.
weve read fault codes & code 149 keeps appearing which says fuel timing error.
Which seems to point to injection pump or that solenoid on back off pump which he renewed only about 7 weeks ago.
Or maybe could it be crankshaft sensor not picking up engine rotation ?
note once started and warmed up will start much better.
Any feedback on this would be most grateful.
