I have a golf that came in with no glow light or man light (i dont think it actually has a man light). The car will not start, and there is no communications with engine man. I have erased and programmed the key but that made no difference. I then ran the battery flat trying to start the thing, and soon as it got so low it could hardly crank, the glow light came on. Then put some life back in the battery and it started straight up... plus comms with the ecu. I turned the car off and tried starting again but the glow light stayed out. I ran the battery flat again and on popped the glow light. It seems that the only way to start the car and bring the ecu to life is too run the battery flat.  Any ideas would be much appreciated!
