We inherited van (friend who lives 100 miles away)
Sourced a Virgin 2nd hand tested ECU from Cartech electronics. We do not have IDS (Probably only needed for programming once in a blue moon) so we use co. called Airbagman, 5 vans across south of england with all dealer diag kits. He could not down load the"as built" file. said ECU or/and BCM no good. Did not show him why. Accepted the VIN and ran, but MAF miles out, even KOEO. Got matched ECU,BCM,KEY and IC.They put IDS back on. programmed original key fobs, and ABS module. Starts/runs, 1 code P0645, A/C compressor clutch relay and have ABS & ESP lights on as a result.Donor van has /ac, this van does'nt. So he entered the VIN of the van to down load the "As built".But then a dialog box appears saying "session has ended".He is blaming the BCM.The donor kit came from a running vehicle until it threw a rod.So although it has proved the original BCM is corrupt i can't keep throwing BCMs on it same may happen, Is there something he is not doing with IDS for this to happen.Says he does loads of Ford As built down loads on 2nd hand ECUs/BCMs.Any of you IDS guru's fathom this out or email the procedure or cheat to put it past him ? Can't keep throwing BCM's on it and have same issue, especially if we got brand new and still does it. Thanks for reading my rant but thought you should have the whole story
