I'm looking for an update on the 'Diesel Emissions Story' as I have been in the diesel repair trade for many years both with pump and injectors and garage repairs, but I don't for-see a happy ending. Episode 1. EGR system, the greatest disaster to hit the diesel motor trade, blocking up inlet manifold etc, suppose I shouldn't complain as it was great earner up to 2004 before closed loop. Episode 2.The CAT, I know it reduces NOx and Selective Catalytic Reduction looks much better in principle. Episode 3. The DPF. Filters Particulate Matter ( black smoke )but must have motorway driving to regenerate, in Ireland we have a NCT ( MOT ) emission test for PM ( black smoke) impossible to fail with DPF fitted. Episode 4.Future. Thanks to VW and euro 6 what have the environment people got in store for us, will NOx ever be part of MOT test, if so what happens with CAT removers ? NCT now perform a visual inspection of DPF, what happens to DPF removers ? Finally do main agents cover a DPF under warranty ?
