I had a gut feeling that I was wrong about the turbo, hence the post.
the exhaust was taking the path of least resistance once the turbo veins had moved to max boost position, and was flooding the inlet with 100% exhaust, the way the EGR failed explains why the vehicle ran ok sometimes and not others. Another lesson learned, i have not seen this type of EGR failure before.
