Before we went any further in checking that it may be due to a possible sensor fault i spoke to the customer who informed me that the local Audi dealer had already confirmed the left hand DPF sensor was faulty and required replacing. They also stated that if they were to carry out the repair they would replace both DPF sensors as a precaution.
We've looked at how inaccessible these sensors are on the top of the gearbox to replace and are wondering if any UKAutotalk members have been here before and could advise us on how to replace them. The owner informs us that Audi have quoted him just 5.5hrs labour and given him a fixed price quote based on £95.00 per hour.
The repair involves removing propshafts and lowering the gearbox as even though it's possible to touch the sensors from up above the engine it seems impossible to disconnect the pipes and wiring.
If the replacement from underneath does involve removing the DPF'S then this could prove to be a problem as all their mounting bolts have corroded away, would the dealer charge extra for this or would they honour their fixed price quote?
Thanks in advance.
