Year of Manufacture *: 2008
Engine Size and Code *: 1.4 BNM
( Optional) Fault Codes: None
We have a 2008 1.4Tdi Polo with a BNM engine code.
The vehicle intermittently revs up by its self, more so on the warm up stage as apposed to at running temp, but can and will do so at any time or frequency.
No fault codes on any ECU in the car.
When the vehicle starts to rev up it can just hold the revs or it can accelerate away even if accelerator has been lifted off, the live data is correct at 0% but it just keeps accelerating.
The accelerating can be stopped by depressing the brake pedal, ECU off switch, this leads us to believe its the ECU telling the injectors to inject more as opposed to the car trying to run on its own oil.
After checking and looking at live data, all of which seems ok, "Sorry cant give specifics"
We substituted, MAF & ECU with known good S/H units, neither have made any difference.
The injectors have also been tested, and refitted with new seals, the head looks good with no score marks.
Lift pump and tandem pump fuel pressures are in spec (ELSA)
Cam timing correct,
I realize we are now going to have to get the Pico out of its box and double check the accelerator pedal readings.
Any suggestion, theories or pointers would be much appreciated
