We had this C5 come in last Sept with a failed turbo, we,(I)replaced the turbo along with new oil feed pipe, oil return pipe, oil pick up strainer in the sump, banjo bolts - all supplied genuine from Citroen.
Flushed engine and new oil and filter.
Car came back in 2 weeks ago with the turbo failed again.
Only thing different this time was that injector 2 had some blow-by.
In the Citroen supplied oil feed pipe there is a very small filter (see pic) that fits inside the lower banjo bolt, apparently you don't fit this - you throw it away, but Citroen failed to tell me when they supplied it ! First cock up !!
Because the injectors sit inside tubes that pass through the cylinder head, when they have combustion gas blow-by the excess heat bakes the oil inside the cylinder head that turns to carbon and drops to the sump and is then carried around the engine.
Having heard about a modified oil feed pipe I contacted Sean Savage of Springwell Motors (01924 404366) to see if he could supply me with said new pipe, he didn't have one in stock but he had one made for me in a couple of days.
So, with this new pipe you are able to remove the filter at any time (easily) and monitor any build up of carbon.
Thanks Sean, your help was much appreciated.
Regards all
Dave
