Year of Manufacture *: 2004
Engine Size and Code *: 1.6
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Modis
( Optional) Fault Codes: Variable vain turbos???
My question is, is it possible for the variable vains to be sticking (lazy) rather than seized? The boost control is working fine, actuator rod moves freely, if vac is disconnected from actuator, boost drops away, yet when it is all connected the turbo is producing over 2.5bar boost.
With mity T'd into vac pipe & scoping pressure sensor I can see the vac dumped to atmosphere but its still generating 4.5-4.8v at the pressure sensor!
COULD it be lazy vains that are not returning to closed state (reducing pressure) or is it a case of, if the linkage is free then the vains must be moving?
Im not looking for a silver bullet here just a bit of advice as to how the link between linkage & vains actually works.
Many thanks for reading
Jon
