Year of Manufacture *: 1952 Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 ( Optional ) Scanner Used: Delphi DS150
We have a mondeo that is poor starting and when it eventually coughs into life it runs like a sack of spanners. A code read brought up P2337 'cyl 2 knock threshold above limits'. To eliminate mechanical issues we removed front cover and checked valve timing and rocker cover to check valve gear and also checked compressions all ok. We have now fitted 4 new delphi injectors and coded them with the delphi equipment. As this fault code erases when the injectors are recoded we have checked that there are no fault codes present and that the injector count is at 0. Then if you turn the ignition off and then turn it back on the fault code reappears without even cranking the engine. My question is, How can this fault code reappear when the engine has not turned as the code represents an issue with how that cylinder is running? Just to check that we have not got a faulty new injector we have swapped them round and recoded them and still the code is CYL 2 knock threshold. If the issue is there when the engine is not turning it cannot be a mechanical fault and we have eliminated an injector fault, also if it was a wiring issue surely the code that would come up would be a 'short to ground' or 'short to live' or 'open circuit'. As the fault appears before cranking it cannot be an issue with fuel pressure. I have read the other posts on here relating to the fords and none the wiser. Can anybody help as my fingers have now got splinters from headscratching.
