Bosch CP3 common rail.
First a little history. We have serviced this vehicle for some time. In January this year it came in with a significant lack of power, hesitation and occasional stalling. We found a very dirty fuel filter(not overdue) and one injector with excess backleak. Drained the muck, changed the filter, service exchange injector and all was well for more than six months.
This time it sets codes.
P1130 fuel rail pressure monitering
P1131 fuel pressure regulator valve.
Both will clear but reset after a drive under load.
It starts promptly and will idle all day. It will rev out freely from idle. Under load it will cut in and out, almost undriveable, stalls easily. Once this stage has been reached it will not restart unless key is cycled fully off. Then it will restart promptly and repeat above.
We have eliminated the filter and lift pump(only used to prime) by running directly from seperate tank, feed & return.
Removed on pump lift pump to check for broken drive, ok.
Replaced regulator, genuine Bosch, revised part number checked with two suppliers.
Fitted temporary pressure sensor, refitted original.
All injectors checked-overhauled by Bosch agent.
'Scoped pressure sensor. Pressure rises suddenly then falls at a slower but steep rate. At point of rise engine knocks. Will often recover pressure and repeat cycle, sometimes stalls.
Fresh out of ideas and thoroughly jarred off, going on holiday for a week to forget about it.
