Year of Manufacture *: june 2004 Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 ( Optional ) ECU Type: bosch dde ( Optional ) Scanner Used: autoboss v30 ( Optional) Fault Codes: 4501 egr control
Hi all, I have this fault on this 04 bmw 320d with 100k on the clock. 4501 egr control. The cars performance is not suffering at all, driving normally, no excessive smoke, no loss of power but marginal increase in fuel consuption. It brings on the management light after about 20 miles. When hot, and idling with scanner attached the code will reappear a couple of seconds after ereasing but the light will not come on until about 20 miles of driving. I have fitted a new egr valve actuator and smoked the exhaust to check the valve was not leaking. I also smoked the intake, no leaks. Im wondering if there is enough vacuum to lift the valve accuratly. I have read the forum on this code but didnt come across the same symptons to match this one as performance is not suffering. Also I have 4 codes releating to each individual glow plug activation, but i dont think this is releated to the egr. Could someone tell me what vacuum value should I expect to see with valve fully lifted. Sorry for being long winded. any advice appreciated Regards Jim
