I've had a quick look at Autodata and it doesn't show a separate road speed sensor, my guess is that information on road speed is shared by the ABS ECU via CAN network, could it possibly be a communication problem, may be a tough one to fix with out some decent wiring diagrams.

P.S are there any fault codes on the ABS side?
