Have a bit of a puzzler and wondered if anybody has seen similiar.
Car exhibits common problem of injector seal problems in that when left to go cold or 3/4 hours standing, refuses to start unless help with ether. After that and withing the 3/4 hour cooling period it restarts no problem.
The injector seals have been replaced and all seem good. The fuel lines have been clamped at filter, flow and return just to ensure the fuel is not returning to the tank.
There is an anomoly however. When we plug our autodiagnos in when the vehicle is running and starting normally, we have no problems with the tool. When the vehicle faults to start the tool will trips out and freeze. The 12V form the EOBD connector is still present when this happens. When we coax the vehicle to then start, the scan tool works fine all of the time thereafter. There are no fault codes stored.
My question is, could this be an electrical/ecu problem maybe. We have had an incidence of an after markek starter motor causing strange behaviour during cranking in that the vehicle would not start due to excessive electrical noise being put onto 0V. That was a different vehicle but a strange fault.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
