Customer complains of power loss, intermittent.
Road test about 1/2 hour after drop off, fault very apparent. OK at idle and lower revs, but at higher revs / load felt like definite misfire on 1 cylinder. This would cut in and out intermittently, almost as if plug was being removed then refitted. (If petrol would say HT lead shorting to earth under load ).
After running a few miles, problem seemed less apparent, not sure if just coincidence, but had a slight tendency to cut out at junctions and difficult to re start
Fault code read before test drive reported P100 (MAF high volt ) P 106 Baro / boost pressure not plausible P110 Intake air temp over voltage and P180 Fuel temp sensor high voltage. NON of these have returned after driving with fault occurring, so not convinced relevant.
Injector leak off revealed marginal variation (2 injectors approx. 15% higher than other 2 )
Engine has a noticeable rattle for cam / chain area, as fault is intermittent, don't think a timing issue
Have tried with MAF disconnected and EGR ( plug ) disconnected, same fault
(intermittent )
Fuel filter replaced
Live data showed little variation between, target and actual when fault occurred.
Felt to me like an injector cutting in and out, are these known to fail in this way with no code ?
Any thoughts welcome
Cheers Aidan
