As Colin's said they do suffer with the pressure sensor. I use a manometer to determine the state of the particulate filter. Makes it easy to tell whether the sensor or filter is at fault.

As a general rule if the additive isn't empty, there's no reason for the filter to be blocked. On the pugs anyway.
