18074 PD Unit injector; cylinder 1 (N240) electrical malfunction.
I have established that when the fault occurs the electrical resistance on injector 1 circuit goes high (About 150 Ohhm)
I have measured this from the ECU socket. (I have also re-done some very poor wiring spices on the external injector loom-which I had hoped were the problem)
The external wiring from the ECU to the socket on the end of the cylinder head is now good.
I removed the cam-cover (Not easy due to poor inlet manifold design! ) in order to check the resistances of the individual injectors and internal loom...
And Lo. Its all fine now!
Popped the cover back on and ran engine for 30 mins with no problem.
Is this fault likely to be due to poor connections between the internal loom and the injectors? (I am thinking that my action of back-probing the injector connections might have "fixed" it)
Do the internal looms give trouble on these or is this more likely to be an actual injector fault? (I hope not, they were "supposed" to have been replaced 18 moths ago)
Dammed intermittants!
