Year of Manufacture *: 2013 Engine Size and Code *: 1.5 TDCI - UGJC
Vehicle was presented after failed attempt by another garage to cure miss fire by replacing no 3cyl injector. As soon as I cranked the engine I could hear there was a compression missing, so carried out average compression test with the PICO which confirmed my suspicions. Removed valve cover and found a rocker/cam follower had come off no 3cyl inlet valve, carried out cyl leakage test on no 3 which confirmed a inlet valve not seating. Removed head and valve from no 3; spun valve up in a chuck of a drill which proved valve was bent, checked rest of the valves for good measure, piston had very slight contact mark so DTI checked piston heights and was satisfied con rod should be OK. Replaced head with necessary new parts, started engine still had miss fireshould have asked myself why the follower had come off in the first place! Pulled valve cover off checked the valve gear and noticed inlet cam lobe on no 3 was obviously out of sync (the lobe had turned out of it's right position), question now was had I bent the new valve. Fitted genuine new camshaft £150 + vat and got lucky engine is sweet. So watch out for this one, the fact that they had camshafts in stock and not to pricey may suggest something.
