We were carrying out a P3 service and the customer had complained of a slight hesitation when in traffic etc. So, whilst changing the plugs, we took the opportunity to whip off the throttle bodies and give them a quick clean.
FAIL!
From that point onwards the ecu would not go into the idle relearn mode because we hadn't disconnected the battery and ecu before cleaning the throttle bodies.
Checked various forums to be met with countless tales of owners having to replace throttle bodies and ecus to fix it. We ended up taking the car to Abbey Motorsport who sent the ecu to the States to get the eprom modified. £500 later, the car now idles.
