Year of Manufacture *: 3/2007 Engine Size and Code *: 1.4 D-4D ( Optional ) Scanner Used: Autocom, Multiscan ( Optional) Fault Codes: Non
Toyota Yaris 1.4 D-4D 3/2007 16,750 miles
This is a regular customer who has had the car from new
He noticed it was difficult to reverse up his drive (sloping) and it does not seem to have the go in it that it had when new, a bit better when warm, not stalling and ticks over perfect
Came in last week and check for codes, non present. He left over night and I checked live data from cold, all OK, with a rev it did chuck out some black smoke
Had the car back in today and suggested I looked at the EGR valve, once removed it was clear this was the problem, stuck open about 1/8"
Enquired at Toyota and they are £225.00 plus VAT and on back order for 2 weeks
Good thing about these valves is that thet are well made an robust, so soaked in WD for half an our to soften carbon up and it cleaned up like new
Refitted and all good, customer is over the moon
I was surprised it had such a thick carbon build up for low mileage

I changed one of these recently on a 2006 Corolla. Replacement part from the factor was Meat & Doria about 300 euro retail all in as far as I remember.
Cant remember what Toyota quoted.
Motor was faulty on this one, the valve was clean and did register a code. Actually went in to limp mode.jim power
