Vauxhall Zafira Z22YH 2006 - Lack of power - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Engine Size and Code *: Z22YH
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Vaux-com & Picoscope
( Optional) Fault Codes: No codes stored

This turned out to be interesting.. This vehicle had already visited a couple of garages with no faults found.. It started and drove fairly ok apart from a lack of power...No codes stored..

After a hand full of tests, the WPS uncovered the issue...

On inspection the chain was loose and inlet cam was out...

These are not easy to check manually, so the WPS was a great advantage in this case...

There are few other details in the capture that also give some clues, but the obvious one is the negative drop as pointed out...

The WPS is a great tool, using mine regularly but still on a learning curve.

Evening chaps

It is a very good tool, I have had it for about 18 months or so now, there is a lot of info gathered using this technique, Spent hours just analysing the captures.

there is allot to learn with this tool, I am just getting to grips with it (I think....)

I should have said in the post this is a Z22YH petrol engine....

but I have had some adapters made for some diesels, so it fits down the glow plug hole, hose gets very hot very quick so cant run it for long..

Hello Darren,
I can vouch for it getting hot on diesels. I have a Sealey master compression test set which I used the right angle adaptor from to join to one of the spare adaptors that I got with my WPS, so that I can use all the adaptors in the set. The wps has saved me having to strip a head off to check for valve damage when the timing belt failed on a renault Trafic & I have used it several times to confirm correct or incorrect timing on various others. For the benefit of others who haven't yet got one, It's also been good analysing fuel pressure/injector faults on diesel as well as petrol, pump faults, air compressor faults, turbo charge pressure & i've even used it to confirm tyre pressures

how you guys getting experienced with WPS ? Is it only every day use -experience? Or you have some materials handy to use. I just bought one used few times but I'm not very good with analising the waveforms. Any advices much appreciated.
