Engine would not exceed 2800 rpm and MIL on.

Second vehicle this month, several last month.
All with VNT turbos,used on short runs and rarely exceed 3000 rpm.

ALL FIXED using R-MC-3e by injecting into inlet side of Turbo a fine spray from garden pressure sprayer.

Barry check out this forum 9/3/2010 also John Kennard 1/6/2009 Diesel forum and Milan 9/3/2009 for the history of this overboost problem.

Incidently I believe Milan buys R-MC-3e in bulk now and its not cheap. But as the saying go's you get what you pay for.

I have been trying to get Future Developments based in Stoke on Trent to can it into more affordable quantities.they seem interested, but not just for John,Milan & myself.

Perhaps a re-action from UK/AT members might pursuade them.

Regarding R-MC-3e, It must only be used under controlled conditions.

Monitoring progress with Diagnostic equipment
(Boost ref against actual data}
Using a continous fine spray in stages and varying temp and engine rpm.

(The first time I used too much causing the complete blockage of the exhaust system including the Cat. (£1087)

Don't try this at home folks.

Hi Derek. Are there any Video's or explanations on how this stuff works. ??

How does squirting the fluid into the inlet help it to clean the VVT mechanism thats situated in the exhaust section. ?? Does it clean after its been burnt and sent out of the exhaust manifold. ??

Hi Tony

You are best talking to Russ Gordon of R-MC Power recovery for the technical details, are you still on blueyonder email.I will send John Kennard latest method using a Mitivac, which incidently have used myself on stubborn cars.

The guy who had the original problem as just got back from Newquay Cornwall, last year he spent most of the same journey there and back in limp home,this time it went like a Scud missile.

R-MC-3e appears only to work effectively when used as directed as previously explained.

Beware of using too much I shared your reservations as to how it could be effective having had to travel thru inlet/intercooler and exhaust before freeing the vane ring.

The subsequent blocked Cat had a centimetre of carbon build-up,which obviously caused it to stall on the 1st test run and the system including the silencer to be replaced.

Hi Guys

Just been reading about Daniel Richards saga with the Mondeo TDCi. Glad I did not go down that route.

I've recently had the above Picasso back.
It came from N/Wales I am based in N/Staffs.
The local garages failed to sort it saying it needed a new Turbo.
I just gave it another spray of R-MC-3e.
Not enough last time (have a phobia about this) also faied to give it a good Test Drive.
We now have another Scud Missile to go with the others.Must be luck.

Co-incedently I took the Grand Vitara I first had the over-boost problem with, for an MOT yesterday.
(see fixed post Dec 5th 2010)

The thing went like a stabbed rat,with turbo boost from as little as 1600 rpm.
The boost control now was inperceptively smooth right up to the rev limiter.

The customer says it as never gone so well,even from new (not run in ?)

Re:The Picasso don't know where you got six weeks from. It reverted back to safe mode the following day.

As I stated in my post I had only used half of the R-MC-3e before it appeared to unstick.
Another dose and Italian Tune-up did the trick.
This was the first in about 18 months to come back.

Hi Thought it was time to put in my two penneth worth about this product. We have been using the product for over 10 years now and have about 70% success rate 30% of VVT turbos are just beyond cleaning. The product is designed for commercial turbines i.e. power stations and the aircraft industry it appears to be water based non toxic formula, also it is a compressible formula. As for the technical specs you would have to ask RMC about that. But it is safe to administer the product through a high compression diesel engine by a metered spray method. I am not into all the technical specifications of the product but can only go on experience, as RMC have only produced the product for direct ingestion into turbines it’s all a bit of a mystery how it still works efficiently on 4 stroke engines having gone through the combustion process before reaching the turbo, but experience says that it works.

We are increasing our success rate with the cleaning effect of the RMC3-E on VVT Turbo’s by using a Mitivac to actuate the turbo vanes which also raises the turbo into full boost and the combination of full boost & moving the vanes whilst cleaning makes the product much more effective and rejuvenates the turbo’s more effectively.

Apparently talking to a number of turbo experts a lot of VVT Turbos suffer problems, but the worst of the lot is VW on the Golf range also the Ford Galaxy/ VW Sharan/Seat Alhambra which is dependent on where the turbo is situated, it doesn’t get enough cooling and so the high temperatures cause the carbon deposits to become much harder and baked on. Also the turbo actuator is not always accessible so all you have to look for is the turbo control solenoid usually mounted on the bulkhead, remove the vacuum pipe to the turbo and plug in the Mitivac at that point as the ECU won’t bring the turbo into full boost on a stationary vehicle.

Another point which worried me in the early days of using the product was spraying it down the air mass meter (MAF Sensor) directly onto the hot wire as these are sensitive sensors and prone to common failure, the fluid seems to have the opposite effect also cleaning the hot wire which I am convinced also helps improve performance. I was doing a Passatt TDI PD engine only yesterday and had already scoped the MAF sensor as we suspected that part of this vehicles’ problem was a lazy MAF Sensor, it turned out to be a split turbo pipe as well as a sticking vane on the VVT. Before cleaning but after the new pipe had been fitted the MAF was achieving around 3.8Volts on a full revs and the scope pattern was somewhat hashe’d in places but after cleaning the pattern became much more uniform and now was topping nearly 4.9 volts its maximum range being 5 volts.

One example, we had a regular customer related to our office administrator who commuted to London regularly in a Renault Meganne 1.5D which meant the vehicle was in regularly for servicing about every 3 months, at around 80,000 miles (a great feat for a Renault) the vehicle developed a flat spot on acceleration that we put down to a sticking VVT and did a turbo clean, the customer was so impressed with the gain in performance he insisted that this be done every service, the vehicle went on to do 190,000 miles without ever having a turbo change or a MAF sensor (it still looked like it had only been wheeled out of the showroom yesterday, even a greater feat for a Renault) Shame the vehicle died an ignominious death in a fire at Gatwick airport when in a storage car park while the customer was on holiday a vehicle caught fire and took out over 20 vehicles the Renault included.

Hope this isn’t information overload but you may find it useful as VVT turbos are such a problem these days and this has become a good earner as the cure is as simple as spraying a bit of fluid down the intake pipe which we charge out including a bottle of fuel cleaner for the tank for prolonged effect. We haven’t come across the problem of Dereks of a blocked DPF yet but careful metering and not overdoing the dose possibly doing 2 smaller separate doses can be just as effective. The one problem is that RMC only sell the product nowadays in 20 litre barrels at about £450.00 a barrel that would last us for 20 years don’t know if it has a sell by date?

Anyone in the Stoke on Trent area might be interested in an article by John Swift of the Sentinel.

It highlights this problem with modern Diesel vehicles if not driven hard enough occasionly.
