BMW 325 2.5 E 90 2005 - Overheating - Fixed #
Posted by andyhyoung on March 2, 2011, 6:01 pm Customer complained of overheat warning light showing after a few miles .(no temp gauge on this). On checking system there was no coolant loss but rad fan going to warp factor 5 when w/light on.Diagnostic system showed fault to electric coolant pump which I thought related to aux boost pump that many cars have been fitted with previously(wrong!!).This car has no mechanically driven water pump.Coolant circulation is by Pcm controlled water pump located on r/hand of engine below a/c compressor.New pump and stat assy fitted for the Bargain!! price of around £450 Yes,four hundred and fity pounds, and the job is done.It appears these pumps are only good for around 60k miles.this car had covered 85k.Something to look forward to in the future..
