Vauxhall Astra H 1.4 2006 - Backfiring - Fixed #

Engine Size and Code *: 1.4
( Optional ) Scanner Used: LaunchX431

We had backfiring on inspection we found exhaust camshaft broken in half(i thinkcamshaft caps come loose is cause)removed head valves ok fitted new shaft and ressembled but ran with misfire on number 4 cyl,had to replace inlet mainfold as it was cracked with all the backfiring.The main dealer has told me they have seen a few Astra H with this problem.FIXED

Interestingly this is a very common fault on Corsa c models.Usually 2004/5 model years.Vauxhall have acknowledged this fault and are replacing the camshafts (and any further work)under extended warranty.

Saw similar years ago on older Astra with distributor, car was a non starter, cambelt turning ok but not distributor, removed rocker cover and cam was broken right in the middle.
