Year of Manufacture *: 2002 Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 RHZ ( Optional ) ECU Type: Bosch C15C2 ( Optional ) Scanner Used: Main Dealer,Bosch, Peugeot Planet, Modis, Launch. ( Optional) Fault Codes: Maf,Map,EGR,Vac Solenoids,Injectors
Finally after many months this vehicle is running perfectly.
The Main Dealer had given up,also two Peugeot Specialists & Bosch Diesel, who all replaced parts.
Many thanks to John,Paul and Dave without their help I too might have given up. (see post vw passat TDI 1st June 2010)
It appears the Turbo Variable Vanes were not operating normally. This was causing I believe abnormal back pressure in the air intake etc, and confusing sensors also ECU.
I sprayed R-MC 3e into the inlet whilst monitoring Turbo pressure measured against referance pressure, until a match was achieved. Advise removing exhaust if carbon is severe,as this one took three attempts blocking the Cat as a result.
This sticking vane problem is virtualy an epidemic now as many drivers do not reach the exhaust gas temperature needed to burn off the carbon deposits. The owner informed me he never exceeded 55mph even on the motorway, max rpm 2500.
Diagnosis can be difficult as this problem can throw up many anomalous fault codes. Hence the fitment of several parts in attempt to cure the fault.
Hi Simon Please refer to John Kennard,Diesel post Re vw passat TDI June 1st 2010.
As you would expect someting as effective as this will not be cheap especially as its used in the Aviation industry for cleaning Jet Engines.
The minimum quantity they now supply is 25 Litres.
I am at the moment in discussion with a local company, Future Developments who distribute various cleaning fluids, with the aim that they will buy then supply at more affordable prices.(www.fdev.co.uk).
Perhaps with the support of UKautotalk this can be arranged.
It was a sample www.r-mc.com decanted that I have now used succesfully three times.Albe'it,its first test was the Suzuki when I used too much,as I was doubtful it would work. A subsequant blocked Cat taught me a lesson. A SAAB 93 and Volvo V70 were cured using John's method.
