Hi

Car came in with no brake lights working. Fitted new brake light switch and then brake lights would not go off.

Checked fuses and found fuse no 7 (5 amp) in fuse box at back of battery blown. Fuses blew immediately you put them in. Checked with friend who works in VW dealer and he says switch on clutch master cylinder causes this problem.

Got another switch from scrapyard as you have to buy complete clutch master cylinder from main dealer for nearly 300 euro. When second hand switch fitted all works OK.

Would have given a long time looking for the problem,hope this is of some help to somebody in the future
