My customer came in some months ago with an alarm which would go off randomly but only when the car was locked, we checked through alarm systems on vag com but couldnt detect any faults we switched off the passive locking and returned it for trial by customer.
I saw the chap socially a couple of weeks ago he said the fault had come back, but now he had to leave the key in the ignition all the time or the alarm would go off!
He also mentioned he needed to do his front pads as they were worn out, he would do this himself.
Bumped into him last night, he had found the pad warning lamp wire had been shorting together, and pads were ok, he retwisted the wire together, the warning lamp went out, and now car will lock with no issues!
Can these two faults really be connected?
Incredible, how do you find that except by chance? Phil
