I use a small die grinder and grind a slot in the hub where the open part of the circlip is, I then rotate the circlip slightly, just enough to get a small screwdriver in behind the circlip and then pop it up, no damage caused to hub/circlip
I have got caught out before by fitting the new circlip supplied (which has the circlip plier holes)problem is the supplied (in kit) circlip eyes jam against the washer.
