Variation of Markings on back of Transferware Posted by Terri on December 21, 2025, 2:56 am Does anyone know if Medici transferware is more valuable when it includes an upside down and diagonal Medici marking on the back? I know an Artificial Intelligence search turned up information that is supposedly doesn't but I'm skeptical. Other collectible items are often worth more because of variations.

Marks were frequently applied upside down and cockeyed in relation to the pattern on the front. Workers in the potteries were often illiterate and wouldn't know which way was right side up.
