Plate with square center print Posted by Kristin Backstrom on January 17, 2025, 12:48 pm Hi! I don't have an image of the back of this unmarked plate - but it's so interesting! I searched through 23 pages of 'ruins' in the database, but can't find anything. Anyone have an idea?

Re: Plate with square center print Posted by Mel Blachford on February 7, 2025, 1:21 am, in reply to "Plate with square center print" Hi Kristen i have just come across your post In the Transferware Recorder Volume 2 Dick Henrywood lists this pattern as unknown pattern C on page 29 The makes has been identified by an impressed "Ridgeway" which indicates one of the early Ridgeway firms, possibly Job ridgeway, George ridgeway or John and William ridgeway The border vignette is shown as Border vignette A This volume and the other 5 in the series are available from Reynardene publishing UK at a very reasonable price you should consider investing to see the other named patterns in the series based on William Angus's Seats of the nobility

Re: Plate with square center print Posted by Web Administrator on January 17, 2025, 1:33 pm, in reply to "Plate with square center print" Yes, it can be frustrating, so many ruins, and I narrowed my search to the color blue, and besides, we don't have them all (patterns with ruins) yet recorded. However, I searched under "abbey priory" (without quotation marks), and found this pattern as "Unidentified Scene #04", DB pattern 11161. Not much help, perhaps, but at least, something! I am a little surprised this pattern didn't show up under "ruins" as a search term, as it is a listed Predominant Feature. Perhaps you designated "Name or Alternate Name Only" in your search? At any rate, the DB entry is identified as made by John & William Ridgway, but it appears to me likely to be a different (unknown) maker.
