how to organize inherited collection Posted by Craig Miller on August 6, 2020, 11:55 am Hello: My name is Craig Miller and I inherited 11 large boxes of flow blue , Transferware and stuff. My question for the group is how to best organize the collection? By platter, dinner plate, bowl? Or by Color? Or by pattern if known? I've got it all out of the boxes and in somewhat of an order (over 50+ handless cups and saucers). I do have a lot of information but it's list by when she bought so no order at all. Any ideas of best way to organize any suggestion on how to dispose of the collection, Ebay is not an option as there is so much. Any suggestion well received. Cheers. Craig Craig@miller-ventures.com

Or to sell? My own philosophy for display is to display what you like the most, and mix and match as pleases your eye. For sale, I would think by origin/type, i.e. flow blue, transferware, "stuff". Frankly, difficult to dispose of collections, particularly these days. If you have "quality" material, a reputable auction house might be interested. But be prepared to receive much less than you think you should. Otherwise, auctions which specialize more towards disposing of entire estates. How about posting some pictures?

Interested? YES I know that I will not get what she paid, but something is better than nothing. I need to figure out how to do pictures on this site. Not as easy as Ebay. Would you be able to tell be some of the auction houses that might be interested? Do you know of any wholesalers? I was hoping that I could sell it in groups like all the handleless cups as one grouping?? All Flow blue all mulberry? thoughts?

What I've got is a note book of with the item listed by purchase date, I'm in the process of grouping (based on your suggest by flow blue, mulberry, etc) So I need to start somewhere what would you like to see? I've got everything out it took 3 rooms to lay it all out, now my idea is to build a doc showing the piece with a picture next to it.
