HELLO, I AM NEW TO COLLECTING STAFFORDSHIRE CERAMICS. I CAME ACROSS THE FOLLOWING 1825 PIECE WHICH HAS A SUBJECT WHICH INTERESTS ME, HOWEVER THE TRANSFER PORTIONS APPEARS TO BE QUITE MISALIGNED CREATING A JAGGED APPEARING BUILDING. IS THIS THEREFORE TO BE CONSIDERED A DEFECTIVE PIECE OR WAS THIS EXPECTED ON CURVED PIECES LIKE THIS PITCHER AT THE TIME? MANY THANKS LINK:
Hi Brian, I just responded to your email. Here is what I said: Thanks for your inquiry. This is to be expected when the transferer had to cut the flat tissue paper to fit the shape of hollowware pieces like the one listed on eBay. Condition of a piece like the one you show is much more important, when it comes to price, than the manner in which it was transferred. Please consider joining the TCC to learn much about transferware, patterns and sources. Good luck with your collecting!
