Davenport mystery"
Susie, I searched all 456 Davenport DB entries and also 347 entries with "church" as a prominent feature, all to no avail. However, I did find three patterns in a series identified as "Variety", with the same border and one, featured on a teapot which is the same form as your sugar bowl. But not your specific pattern, so it appears to be unrecorded. The three that we do have identified are marked and/or attributed to Ralph Hall & Co, Tunstall Staffordshire 1822-1849, NOT to Davenport, so that is interesting although by no means unusual. You can input "Variety" into the DB search function to locate the three patterns. See especially #03. As you have a pattern which the TCC does not have, may we have your permission to use your image, and also, could you send an image of the Davenport mark to our webmaster and ask her to post it in addition to the one already transmitted?
