I recently acquired a Prattware-style pot "Venice" (No. 507) with a duplicated scene of Venice encircling it.
Once I found the ingeniously disguised transfer seam, I noted other variations between the duplicated scenes - not just colour variations but items missing, added or subtly changed, and not simple degradation of the copper foils.
Although the duplicated scenes are clearly independent, individual pictures, is there any historical evidence that similar pots had deliberate changes introduced in duplicate designs for the pure entertainment of finding them, i.e. as a "spot the difference" game for the pleasure of Prattware pot collectors?
Regards, Adam Williams (Australia)
