I thought I would drop you a line as your enquiry actually falls outside the scope of this Message Board, although you would not realise that. It stops around 1900.
Historic America was introduced in 1939 by Johnson Bros and was inspired by Frederick & Nelson the department store chain based in Seattle and they probably had sole rights for a few years? It is actually litho-printed rather than transfer printed in the pure historical sense. There are 30 different scenes in the series, which was produced in blue, pink, green and brown multi-colored over the years 1939-1974. In 2001 a reduced range was produced for Ross-Simons. There is no specific set or service. You basically bought what you wanted, although there may have been sets and services on offer at different times.
Regards
Andrew
