Muschel
Onion / Blue Onion
Have these patterns been made in transfer? I have (from an archaeological site here in San Diego) what is shown on line as "Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted". The TCC database shows a very similar item "Copenhagen Pattern" TCC 14201.
This item I have has the pattern name (COPENHAGEN)in a stamped 8 pointed starburst like design; below that is another word (only the last letter is present: "...N") and IMPRESSED are the words "BRITISH / ANCHOR"
It seems the maker was British Anchor, yet I cannot find this "Copenhagen" pattern attached to manufacturer "British Anchor".
The book I have that shows these patterns is Warren E. Cox, 1970, The Book of Pottery and Porcelain, Volume II, page 735. From Cox's writing, I cannot understand if these are transfers or "drawn" as he puts it.
They originated in Denmark, I think?
Thanks as always,
Susan
