Thanks for the post, that is VERY interesting and helpful. I know that Clementson's "Siam" pattern, registered in 1850, was sold by F J Blair of Milwaukee. I had wondered why Davenport Bros never carried the pattern, but your comments help explain this.
Does anyone know of any other patterns offered by Davenport Brothers of NY (backstamp of "Manufactured for Davenport Bros 203 Greenwich St NY")? I have only seen "Sydenham" and "Claremont" by Clementson offered by them, at least with that mark. As Frank Davenport had indicated, they had been in business for quite some time so I'm guessing there are others as well.
