I would like to see a photo of your plate as it must have been made by J & W Ridgway, and I have not seen that variation with the boat being near the geese. On the plate and platter in the database, the boat is on the other side of the pattern. "Stone China" is the term J & W Ridgway used to describe their ironstone china. The plate, which is mine, is not thick and heavy. It appears much like normal earthenware although the quality of the clay body is very fine as well as the engraving of the pattern. There are instructions here on the Message Board on how to post photos, or you could just send me photos of the pattern and mark to my email address. Thanks for contacting us with your questions.
