As many of you may have seen on TCC’s Web site earlier this year, veteran TCC member and “Old Blue” collector Hayden Goldberg died in January. Hayden made many significant contributions to the study of Staffordshire china, and we would like to memorialize some of his writings on TCC’s Web site.
You help is needed. The Magazine Antiques has agreed to allow the Transferware Collectors Club to use without a fee four of Hayden’s articles published in The Magazine Antiques. Our task, for which we require a volunteer to complete, is to go to a good public library, or museum or university library, and photocopy the following articles by Hayden. We will then upload these articles on TCC’s Web site for our members’ use.
Your help is needed to locate and Xerox good, clear copies of the following articles:
1) “The Earliest Known Example of Historical Blue Staffordshire” by Hayden Goldberg, p. 178 – 182 of The Magazine Antiques, July 1981.
2) “Two newly identified American views on historical blue Staffordshire” by Hayden Goldberg, p. 281- 283 of The Magazine Antiques, January 1984.
3) “The architecture of Charles Bulfinch on historical blue Staffordshire – Part 1: The early buildings, 1790 – 1807” by Hayden Goldberg, p. 1198 – 1205 of The Magazine Antiques, December 1985.
4) “The architecture of Charles Bulfinch on historical blue Staffordshire – Part 1: The later buildings, 1810 – 1832” by Hayden Goldberg, p. 434 – 443 of The Magazine Antiques, February 1987.
