Wood & Sons were makers of earthenware from about 1865 and blossomed from about 1894 right through the first half of the 20th Century. They finally went bust for the last time about 2000? I should remember as I went to the factory often and was there in those final days and bought pallets and pallets of their china. The factory and warehouses were in a time warp, so I probably could have found some Shakespeare if I had searched long enough.
There is no special story about your pattern, Woods made all sorts of patterns and literary figures were in vogue for a time. The impressed 6-07 indicates that it was made in June 1906.
