Will someone advise me Please???:
Just bought my first piece of Transferware from a respectable Antique Mall. They labled it 1850. They indicated the pattern is located in some directory??? And that is how they authenticated it as the year .
So, my concerns/ observances are:
1.) It is a dark blue/white small plate, florals around the edge and a image in the middle.
2.) It has a HAND painted gold edge and traced gold lines within the pattern and the florals.
3.) It has some bubbles on the front and back witin the glazing. But it does not have any Stratches from knifes, etc, the glazing is like new.
4.) IT HAS NOT A SINGLE MARKING ON THE BACK, NO MAKER MARKS, DATES, LETTERS, NOTHING.
5.) It appears to have some discoloration / fading on the back.
6.) The plate LOOKS old on the back, it has a million little crackles on the front and back. The ege does have a chip and the plate looks a little darker in color/ Cream/ Brown in color where the chip is, underneath.
SO there you have it. I dont know if you could give me some advice. mY concerns are, it looks old, but alomost like it was made to look that way with the crackles, etc. I just dont know . Is this something that is usually faked, Any clear tips on authenticating it with what I gave you here?
I didnt pay a bunch, $50 for it.
Any advice from someone would be great.
