Hi. My name is Graham. I am fairly interested in the research of the genealogy of my family name, although I never seem to have the time to do anything about it. I think this is a great site, though. I live in Dublin, but my great-grandfather was from Meath. As the younger son, he left to make his fortune in the big city. The family he left behind owned quite a large part of the hill of Tara, but was forced to sell to the government as a historical site. Not much information I know, but it's all I have at the moment. Yours, P.S. Found this Tormey info at the Irish Times website... Fairly numerous: W Meath-Offaly, etc. Ir. O'Tormaigh, from Norse first name Thormodr. Early records place it in Longford-Cavan.
