There is a Goshen in Sullivan cnty NH, but not New York.
Troumaun is in Athleague. My John Tormey emigrated from there to Cocheton, Sullivan cnty NY in 1848. Other names from Tromaun were Egan, Curly, Skally, Kelly, Daly - also found in Cocheton in the 1850,s and 1860's censuses.
John was the son of Patrick Tormey and Margaret Scally. He was born in 1832. Married Mary Daly in NY about 1853. Their first four children - Patrick (my ggrandfather), Thomas, William E. and Margaret were born in NY. By 1866 they were in Tanner Falls, PA where the next child Lawrence was born. In 1870 they were in Escanaba Michigan where the last child - Mary Ann - was born and lived there from there on.
Father Patrick died by about 1836 and mother Margaret remarried Patrick Killian - also in Tromaun. They had several more children and settled in Neenah Menasha Wisconsin. A couple of the Killian children later moved to Escanaba. My Grandmother Mary Tormey - daughter of my grandfather Patrick Tormey - often spoke of playing with the Killian and Corcoran kids growing up.
I have the delight of having the Tormey bible started by Ggrandfather John in 1870.
