My Mum Ella was a Tormay. Within the same family the name is spelt two ways, Tormay/Tormey.

One reason I know of was the way the family records were written and recorded the 'a' was written the old irish way and it looked at times like an 'e' .

My family of Tormay/Tormey's came from Kells Co Meath.
