I believe that we have much to share which hopefully will further connect our families. I have had a look at Laurence Tormey of Offaly because Laurence is my gr-grandfather Tormey's given name, and I have found very few Laurences in Tormey records.
As to Father Michael Tormey, there is much in the records. He was born in 1820, the son of Edward Tormey of Tuitestown, a miller, and Bridget Coffey of Sheefin. They had several children, and their oldest son, Thomas, died in California at the home of Tormey cousins.
Hopefully you and Teresa and I can put our heads and research together and finally make the connections which will unite all the Tormeys of Westmeath and Offaly. The Tormeys of Cavan, Meath, and elsewhere have not gone unnoticed, but we have to start somewhere to take the next step to that 500 year history of the Tormey name.
I am looking forward to hearing from you again, Sheila.
