Just giving an update. 2 years ago I went to Dublin and found my great grandfather's house on Chicken Lane (now Arbour Place) in Dublin's Stoneybatter nieghborhood North of the Liffey. A few baptismal records for brothers baptized in different parishes in Dublin. Since my trip, I have found many Tormey's living in Dublin around the 1840-1865 era. My great great grandfather Peter Tormey also had a business in Dublin at that time on Arran Quay near St. Pauls. Heading back in a few weeks to do a little more research and see the country. I believe my Tormeys may have been from Meath or another part of the country. Thanks for the good resource of this site. The Irishtimes has a great little map that shows you the concentration of Tormey families in Ireland from the 1850 census. Check it out.
