I live in the northern part of New York state and have recently started tracing the Tormey side of my family. My great-great-great-grandfather was Michael Tormey.
According to the 1880 US census he was born in 1828 in New York (around Plattsburgh) and both of his parents are from Ireland. I'm building the tree through ancestry.com and one of their hints was that Michael's father was named Hugh and he came from Kildare, Ireland. The date of birth was 5 MAY 1791 and the date of death was 3 FEB 1842 in Saranac, NY.
I was wondering if there was a possible connection to this Tormey clan. If so I would love to hear any information about my ancestors or be pointed toward any leads that I could track down. Thanks.
Sarah
