What similar memories kids who lived in Tormey share. My family and I lived in Tormey from 1960 until the end of the town's existance in 1971. The article "Christmas Story" in the Rise and fall of Tormey town link quotes my dad and mom. It was a great place to grow up. I went to the 2 room school from 1st grade to 6th grade. Then bused to Crockett. A boy my age, named Richard Harris lived at the store you mentioned.
I went back to visit Tormey last month. The only thing left is the 2 room school and some houses "across the highway" on Old County Rd.
The hills looked much larger to me when I was a young boy, growing up in such a little town.
