The lack of respect shown by some people to the other folks playing is killing this site. This site is supposed to be for all people of all abilities. But that isn't the way it is. Most people willing play others of any ability but some, when they play others who are learning or those who abilities are sliding, feel free to blast them at anytime.
Now is the time to clamp down on those who disrupt the flow and the friendly competition of this site.
Go back to the original way of scoring places, keep the original format and be harsh with the bullies.
: Going under cases would be a wrong move. Keep
: the site to TOPS.

: Very good points, Jagged.
: I am sure that changing from a tourney to a
: ladder system won't change how people play
: their games and react during and after game
: play as it does not address that at all.
: Most of the criticism of how things are
: today is about the name calling and player
: bashing, and second is about the way some
: focus on revenge for getting the queen. No
: amount of format or structural changes will
: fix those issues.
: We do have a few folks who have hosted a
: ladder system under myleagues and have
: expressed how easy it is to use for running
: such tourneys. But I am sure that
: complaints about how difficult it is to host
: TOP tourneys is not one of our most frequent
: issues raised, though it can be made easier.
: If that is truly a problem we need to
: solve, I can look into what it would take to
: build a tourney management application to
: host on the toptourney.org site. The logic
: of such an application cannot be too hard to
: code - just figuring out how to put it on
: the web is my challenge. In addition,
: Silver Creek is building a site called
: TourneyKing.com which potentially could do
: the same (right now it is just for posting
: to the lobby tourney board and I don't know
: how long it might be before they would
: develop such pieces to it if they do that at
: Frankly, I am not sure how we got to where
: we were focusing on such a major overhaul.
: Victoria had an idea on choosing wilds in
: the lobby which led to other ideas being
: shared, and Lee asked me to post a summary
: of everything raised to the message board so
: we could get feedback on those ideas. Now
: all such ideas are not even part of our
: discussions but rather going to something
: totally different, which to me is killing
: TOP as we know it in favour of becoming
: Cases Ladder instead.
: If I were in charge and could get what I
: wanted, I would change it back to the way
: TOP was played when I joined *AND* implement
: some kind of player registration process
: *AND* begin enforcing the rules for player
: conduct as Mush and Sagi both did and forget
: any other idea because the tourney itself
: could once again be fun and enjoyable by
: those who come to play hearts.
: Lee, I am not even sure why you are allowing
: this to go to a vote. You *are* in charge
: and can make decisions without such a vote
: and don't have to be overruled. Even if
: there is a vote, you don't have to follow
: majority rule. Any such poll may be fine
: for measuring opinion, but is non-binding.

: This is mostly directed at Lee since he runs
: the joint. In making any changes you have to
: ask yourself a few questions. The first
: question would be "What is the goal of
: these changes?" In this particular case
: would it be to bring in more people or thin
: the crowd? "Are people VERY unhappy
: about the current system or just griping a
: little?" "Are the changes going to
: make things easier for the hosts, or
: players, or both?" Unfortunately, I
: never had the pleasure of meeting Melinda.
: (She would probably have banned me the
