In general, I have noticed the 1st round games being closer since we stopped rewarding 1st round 3rd place players for dumping on 4th and ending with a low wild score. Some players are now playing the game as it was intended and taking points with the hope that lowman is hit since there is no reward for the dump, and even finishing in 2nd is no guarantee of advancement and gets the same LB points as 4th place.
I know not everyone agrees, and I know some people play the same way they did before, and I know that sucks when it seems people want to play revenge or target a specific player or just seem to have no idea how to play lowman. Sometimes it just sucks that the Q doesn't go to the right player because of the hands that were dealt.
My experience is that you can't win every night, but the games have been more fun since the change even when I don't advance. Players who HAD quit have come back and we have some new ones who are staying.
Last point: looking at the leaderboard, I think the system has been fair in rewarding winners and consistent players better than the old system. That much seems obvious to me.
Other opinions are welcome regardless of whether you agree with me or not.
: I'd like to call this format to vote before we
: are stuck with it another month.
: From what I've witnessed this format doesn't
: change how anyone plays. What it does do is
: cut out most of the players in the first
: round. You end up taking 1 or 2 wilds the
: first round and taking Top 2 in the semi's
: making it easier to reach the finals from
: the semi. I think taking Top 2 from the
: first round, having more people playing in
: the semi and winner only with maybe 1 wild
: to the final is much better. So let me
: please cast the first vote for Classic Top..

: OK, starting in November, we will be
: a new format. This format was designed to
: reduce players from being rewarded for 2nd
: or 3rd place by advancement. Winners ONLY
: and enough 2nds to fill needed table will
: So in cases with 8 tables and under, only
: the winner and enough 2nds to fill 2 tables
: will advance.
: Example: 6 tables will be winners & 2
: lowest 2nd place players. This would fill 2
: semi tables.
: From the semis, the 1st and 2nd would
: Now, to further help, we will be changing
: the point system. Winners will get 5 points,
: all else
: will get 2 points. So the new point system
: is 5 for winners and 2 points for 2nd, 3rd
: and 4th!
: Feel free to give your oppinions on this,
: but we will try it for at least a week!
